Reasons why Indian wives and moms are always very stressed

Being an Indian wife and a mom, I have all the reasons to be stressed! You don’t believe me? Well, then go on and read this..

A Nielsen survey conducted in 6,500 women across 21 different nations in the year 2011 suggested Indian women are the most stressed in the world today. An overwhelming 87% of Indian women said they felt stressed most of the time, and 82% reported that they had no time to relax.indian-moms-are-always-stressed-01

So, why are women like me so stressed? Well! It is because we are pretending to be super jugglers. And in failing to keep up with the pretense of juggling multiple roles at home and work, we get strained. We are unable to create a balance between our family and work life. Most times we get pulled towards the direction of family expectations, and at other times in the direction of A-class career opportunities!

We are expected to do well in school, college, grab a couple more degrees, do well at our workplace and then one day, the marriage market springs up. We go through rejections and approvals. Even if we have dated a guy and end up marrying that same person, life isn’t exactly like a bed of roses.

  1. Somehow i agree on some of your points. In india women whether she is wife or a mother is living a stressful life becoz of many reasons. She is under so many reaponsibilites of her house her family her husband her children and etc etc. We should put some step to change the life of indian woman .

  2. Amen to this!
What with work, being mum and wife, you have to also please the in-laws too.
Then the added stress of trying to explain your responsibilities to a non-Indian friend who asks “but why do you do all this? Why don’t you just…” and suggest a lovely ‘sod em all’ scenario which you’d love to be able to play out, but in reality, you know you could never do!
