Parenthood is indeed the most beautiful journey. Each day you learn something new from your bundle of joy. There is no particular guide to parenting, I feel your instinct works the best when it comes to raising your child. As a mom, the best gift I get from my angel daily is hugs and cuddles. While saying I love you is important – showing that we love our children is equally important. Kids feel secure when parents embrace them. Apart from bear hugs, there are many other gentle ways to show love to your child.
5 Gentle ways to show love to your child:
1. The art of saying thank you
Teach your child the art of thanksgiving and prayer just as you make them learn their alphabets and numbers. Kids should learn the importance of being grateful for all the things they have been blessed with. This will help them immensely in the long run.
2. Teach them the importance of life celebrations
Make your kids a part of your special days like birthdays, anniversaries and festivals. This is a great way to show your child affection. It will later form the basis of their perception of the affection you have for your children and it will even build trust.
3. Bond over project work
Work on class projects and simple domestic chores as a team. This will help a lot in strengthening your bond with your child. Trust me, nothing works more wonders than the confidence of doing things together as a team.
4. Practice impartiality
Handle sibling rivalry with utmost care. It is important that you handle issues between your kids in an impartial way. Do not try to favor one child over the other. This is the worst thing you could do as a parent. Your job is to resolve the issue in a fair manner and bridge the gap between the kids. Approach things in a soft way. As Mahatma Gandhi says, “Punishment hardens Children, and this is something that we are witnessing today. Emotions of children have hardened because empathy is dead.
5. Be attentive
Kids are highly perceptive. They know when you are paying attention to what they are saying and when you are just pretending to listen and engage with something else. Try as much as possible to be both physically and mindfully present when your child is interacting with you. Kids learn a lot from their parents and this is why one has to be extremely careful about how one behaves when they are around. As a parent, you must understand what your child needs.
Parents are a child’s first teacher, so it is important that you set the right examples for them. If you have millions in your bank account at the end of the year or you are bestowed with the best employee award, but if your child is deprived of your love and affection, then you have miserably failed as a parent. Love and affection are like pillars of parenting. They can help you achieve all your parenting goals with ease. A strong foundation nurtured and conditioned with love and care will help your children into compassionate human beings.
Happy Parenting.
