Dear Children,
My Mom always seemed so perfect to me, so strong and smart, so beautiful. And she made being a mom appear to be the easiest pass time in the world. Watching her do everything with such ease and having her always on my side made me want to be a mom too.
Today I know, that being a mom is not always as easy as it seemed to me when growing up. It’s a 24/7 job in a way. Because being a mom, never stops. Caring for a child never stops. Loving a child never stops and worrying about a child never stops.
I remember the day you were born as if it was yesterday. It’s been a while you know, and still I can remember your specific wonderful newborn baby smell. I remember how soft your hair was, your skin. How tiny your feet were and how strong your grip already was.
I remember your first smile, your first giggle, your first steps and plenty of tears. Both of you brought so much joy into my world. I remember how I realized what love truly means when I first held you. I remember how I realized what it means to be responsible for someone, to look after someone so precious, so important, so fragile and so beautiful.
You both turned into beautiful children. You turned into children, who respect each other, their parents and their friends. You turned into children, who have an open mind and an open heart. I watch you everyday and I can’t wipe the smile off my face. I’m so proud of you two.
Your life so far has been good. It was filled with laughter and little adventures, fun and joy, sun and warmth.
I hope it will continue that way.
Now that you get older you will face different kind of obstacles. Where before climbing a steep ladder on a playground was the biggest issue, you will have to deal with so many more in your future. You are growing up.
The biggest gift in my life so far besides you two is, that I can see you grow. I have the privilege to not only be a SAHM but to also witness your education because of our decision to homeschool you. I have to admit though, that I would have never taken up this challenge and I’m so glad that your dad is such a great teacher. What a joy to see you learn. What a joy to see how eager you are to learn.
Watching you every day, all day, gives me the confidence that you both will find your perfect place in your perfect world.
May your further journey be filled with laughter and giggles, with good times and lots of love. With joy and adventure.
May you keep your open heart and mingle with like-minded people.
May your stay open-minded and welcome so many more people into your life, who hopefully make it even richer.
May you never forget to see the good in people and never encounter the bad.
May the sun always shine for you and your loved ones.
You opened up my heart in a way I never thought it could. You are what I always wished you would be and I know that you will never disappoint me. Follow your dreams and dream big. Go out there and reach for the stars. The sky is no limit for both of you.
Every now and then think of me while chasing those stars and send me one of your wonderful smiles and in the case you would stumble on your journey then always remember, that I will be there for you. With my arms and my heart wide open.
My children, you are wonderful. I love you. I’m proud of you and I will always be there for you.
