Who would think of putting their hands in the winter chill, out to work? But there are certain things that need to be done. One of them is cleaning your car.
For a working mother, this is one of the most difficult tasks. Most of the time, cars not only are a means of transport but a home in itself. 1. Cleaning Up the Window to Prevent Fog Build-up:
The most difficult task in winters is driving to work on a cold, foggy winter morning. And while you are struggling to reach your office on time, the fog build-up inside the car can really drive you crazy. The fog build up takes place because of the temperature difference and the moisture inside your car. Most of the time, you make do with wiping out the moisture in the glass portion in front of you, it can get difficult while driving. The best thing to do is to keep the inside of the windshield as clean as possible, to slow down the build-up of moisture. Once the windshield is clean, apply a thin layer of shaving cream on it. Then wipe it off with a clean piece of cloth. This hack will definitely prevent the fog build up.
2. Minimizing Fog and Frost in an Overnight Parked Car:
After fulfilling your morning chores at home, you are really short of time to reach office. But when you open your car door, overnight settled fog and frost welcomes you. How do you battle this? The best trick to minimize your morning worry with the car is let cold air into your car, before you park it for the night. By doing this you will let in cold and dry air while letting out the warm and moist air. This trick will help in keeping the fog and frost to the minimum for you till the next morning.
3. Protect the Windshield Wipers:
Driving a car without the windshield wipers working can be a real nightmare, and more so during the rainy and winter seasons. An extremely useful and the cheapest solution to keep this problem at bay is to cover the wipers with a pair of socks. It’s almost like dressing up your car wipers for winters! This will prevent the wipers to stick to the windshield.
4. An Easy Tool for Clearing Foggy Windows:
Instead of struggling with a paper napkin or a cloth to clear foggy windows, make use of a simple chalkboard eraser. It will wipe the windows clean of the fog without leaving behind any streaks. It is best to keep one of these always handy in your dashboards.
5. Start the Engine First:
Instead of turning on the windshield defroster as soon as you get inside the car, let the engine run for a couple of minutes. This will give the air ducts and the heating system some time to warm up. Turning on the defroster before blows cold air onto the windshield. But if you let the engine warm up before turning on the defroster to high, then there will be warm air instead of cold air blowing onto the windshield.
