Robin Lloyd, born in Missouri, moved to Washington and then Colorado by the time she was five years old. She grew up being homeschooled and have chosen to homeschool her own children since it was such a wonderful experience for her. She has two sisters and is very close to her parents. She met her husband while attending college for a piano performance degree. She has taught piano for many years! These days photography is both her creative outlet and her livelihood! Her husband is now attending medical school for an MD/Ph.D. They live in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and it is a great passion for them to be outside as much as possible!
How does your day start?
My day starts at 5:30. Always coffee first! My children wake up by 6:30 and we read stories and snuggle and then get started with our day, some house chores (making beds!) breakfast and start school for the day. I try to schedule in non scheduled time, but we are a very scheduled family! We spend time outside as much as we can. I try to balance indoor and outdoor activities, school work and educational activities. We do some dance and music classes as well.
What would you say is your key to juggling and creating a balance with your work and kids?
Being willing to change and learn, when I think I have it figured out I don’t always. But I try to put them first whenever possible and when it is not possible I try to not feel too guilty and remind myself I’m doing my best!
What is the most challenging part of being a mother? Have you managed to overcome it? If so, how?
Guilt! I have not, but I am working on it every day because I don’t want my kids to feel guilty.
How do you spend time with your kids on weekends? Share your best family moments.
Hiking and exploring! We love being outside so much, it rests all our souls.
Do you manage to get some personal time for yourself? What do you like to do in this leisure time?
I try to be balanced, I honestly struggle with this but I hope to both teach my children kindness and discipline while having a close friendship with them!
Any special parenting tips that have worked for you or those which were advised to you but didn’t work?
Taking personal timeouts for ME when things get crazy! And each child is different, trying to form them into a mold never worked!
If there was anyone thing you could change about you at this point in life, what would that be?
My confidence! It’s important to me that my children are confident and they learn by my example!
