People tell me I’m a ‘modern’ mom and this is why it’s not a compliment!

My mother disapproves of the ‘modern mom‘ look of mine. Read on to know why women of her age don’t give compliments anymore!

Last year, when my mom visited me for a few days during my post-delivery time, it sure was a breather. She pretty much took charge of a lot of things without me having to worry a bit. Laundry, dusting, cooking, putting newborn to sleep (while I could rest).a-modern-mom-is-not-a-compliment-01

She is a fun grandmother! We would stay up talking about how life has changed. But then, abruptly, she also started pointing out at things which I thought were a bit of an over-reaction. And then one day, my mother-in-law’s friend too couldn’t help but pass a remark at me. And for something really odd.

I was taking my baby’s pictures with the handset. She saw me doing it and said something that kept echoing in my ears:

In our days, memories were made for real with a proper camera! We stored them in our minds and through hard copies so that we could cherish them forever! You, today’s modern moms – your lot gets away with doing not even 10% of what we did back in our days.

That statement hit me so bad! It was such a sarcastic one. I wanted to tell her that women of your times would have never even imagined doing 90% of the things many modern day moms do!

I have no qualms about “modern mom things” that I love doing. Period!
